Our Founder’s Message on International Women’s Day, 2021.
As we celebrate this year’s #InternationalWomen’sDay we have remained resolute in acknowledging the women folk across the globe, crisscrossing the boundaries of various cultural, religious and ethnic groups in rekindling their struggle for peace, justice, equality and togetherness.
Through the thick and thin of sensitization and campaigns about women’s equal rights to opportunities, ascension to leadership and managerial roles using their lofty voices in projecting their strength, one is well pleased that the once broadened gap is now translating to dividends of inclusion and respect for every woman.
While we are not unaware of some scourges that has crippled some length of self confidence in women like rape, domestic violence, child marriage, Female Genital Mutilation, trafficking and health related issues like Vesicovaginal fistula, efforts are in place through strategic interventions with RAISE Foundation and other development partners in Nigeria to curb the rising trend. Covid-19 was another obturation to giant strides for the year.
Women were in the forefront as healthcare workers and caregivers by giving rays of hope for the infected in the battle against the global pandemic.
We must acknowledge these women and their exemplary efforts in creating a safe haven for us all. This year’s IWD theme #ChooseToChallenge is unique and spurs us to accept greatness in the face of a challenging and dynamic world.
So, as we choose to challenge all odds, lets remain plausible and inflexible in our mission to ensuring every woman has a voice and is being heard.
Happy International Women’s Day!
