Early Detection of Breast and Cervical Cancer Remains the Core in the Fight Against the Disease.
Cancer is one the leading causes of death from non-communicable diseases worldwide with Breast cancer as the most common cancer in women worldwide.
Studies have shown that there are about 1.38 million new cases of breast cancer and 458,000 deaths each year Only about one third of Breast cancers can be prevented and therefore, early detection of the disease remains the cornerstone of breast cancer control.
To this end, we rolled out our awareness and sensitization drums to Tawali’u Baptist Church in Dutsen Kura Minna, Niger State during their annual sisters’ convention to emphasize the need for regular clinical breast examinations as well as cervical screening to detect changes early enough.
