Obstetric Fistula: Empowered After Surgery

After successful Obstetric fistula repairs for 18 women at the Dr Amina Bello Women Health Centre Kontagora, as usual we did not allow the women go without any form of empowerment.

This set who had their surgeries done in August 2021, have been trained in cosmetics production which includes liquid wash making, hair and body cream production, toilet wash, disinfectants, room fragrances, shampoo and conditioners.

This is to enable the women achieve financial independence, become employers of labor, and make positive contributions to the economic growth of the State while reintegrating back into the society after many years of stigmatization and rejection.

The project which is funded by the African Women Development Fund (AWDF) will cater for the surgeries, accommodation, feeding and empowerment of 50 obstetric fistula cases.
